Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is coming up in theaters in a few weeks. The much-awaited release will also be followed up by the hyped-up third installment in MCU’s Ant-Man movies- Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It looks very promising in content, with the new trailer released at the beginning of the week.

The trailer starts on a lighthearted note with people hilariously mistaking Scott Lang for Spider-Man, and a minute later we’re being shown the vastness of the Quantum Realm. At the very end is a line that might not be ringing the same bell as the first footage of the teaser shown back in July this year. What does it mean?

What Was Shown In The First Footage Of Ant-Man 3 Back In July?

Marvel Phase 5 will officially kick off with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in early 2023.

Fans who attended the San Diego Comic-Con that was held in July this year must be familiar with the very first footage shown of the upcoming movie, which was paired with an announcement that the movie will be the first project released from Phase 5 of the MCU.

The footage was shown at Hall H where tons of Marvel fans were gathered and were treated to an interaction between Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang and the villain of Quantumania, Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors.

In the clip shown, Rudd’s character warns that Majors’ character has “made a big mistake”, further revealing that he is an Avenger to the time-traveling entity. A cold reply follows, with Kang replying

“You’re an Avenger? Have I killed you before?”

This surely got the teeth of fans grinding after the possibility of Scott Lang’s death increased with that line. It’s obvious that Kang came from the future through time travel after uttering those words, pointing to a possible future where Lang is murdered by the powerful Marvel villain.

But the recently released trailer seems to be suggesting something else entirely.

The recently released trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania shows us the first look into an unfamiliar part of the Quantum Realm, and what Jonathan Majors’ Kang The Conqueror looks like in the upcoming movie.

Besides all that, there was one notable change from the first footage of the movie shown at the SDCC in July. A dialogue change is shown in the new trailer at the very end, and it gives us a whole new plotline where the execution of an Avenger member, or more, is possible in the near future of the MCU.

This time, Kang the Conqueror says an entirely different line of dialogue to Paul Rudd‘s Scott Lang. Majors’ character asks Lang-

“So what’s it going to be, Ant-Man?”

The now omitted line was a threat to Lang’s existence, but this new line of dialogue seems to threaten to kill any of the living Avengers. Who do you think Kang the Conqueror will be targeting from the powerful team of superheroes?

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 17, 2023.
