As Foxx’s daughter revealed in April, the actor was hospitalized following an undisclosed medical emergency. However, in July, he posted a video on Instagram with a comment about his improved health. Well, during his health scare times, the Oscar-winning actor received a ton of support from the top figures in the entertainment industry.

John Boyega, a British actor who made his name playing Finn in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is one of them. They recently starred in They Cloned Tyrone.

John Boyega’s Support For Jamie Foxx During His Medical Emergency

Jamie Foxx and John Boyega starred in the Juel Taylor science fiction comedy-mystery They Cloned Tyrone.

However, due to Fox’s recovery from a medical issue for which he was hospitalized in April, the actor was unable to attend the premiere of They Cloned Tyron at the American Black Film Festival. His costar and one of the many people, who wished the Oscar-winning star a speedy recovery gave shout-outs to him despite his absence.

Boyega spoke with Entertainment Tonight while walking the red carpet: 

“I wanted him to show up here, but you know, I know he’s dealing with what he’s dealing with, and we just wish him all the best.”

The actor continued, saying that although he has been trying to get in touch with his co-star, they have not yet had the chance to talk:

“I’ve been calling, I’m just gonna keep on calling,” Boyega said, joking: “He better pick up. Come on, Jamie!”

Additionally, Boyega told PEOPLE that he was relieved to finally be able to reach Foxx on the phone after his health issue earlier this year.

“He finally picked up the phone. Thank you, bro. He’s doing well. And then, you know, we just giving him the privacy, and we can’t wait for his return.”

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor continued:

 “I gave him the well wishes directly. I gave him all the well wishes. So I’m just gonna be waiting until he comes back out here. So take your time, Jamie. We love you, bro.”

Jamie Foxx had a medical emergency while filming his upcoming action comedy Back In Action and was taken to the hospital in April of this year. Later that month, his daughter, Corinne Foxx, posted a message on Instagram Stories stating that her father was recovering after experiencing a “medical complication” the day before:

“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”

Later on, a source told PEOPLE on April 21 that:

“He’s OK, thank God. He’s still in the hospital and doctors are running tests but he’s awake and alert. They’re keeping him under observation.”

Since then, Fox has been posting updates on social media about his improved health while also thanking everyone for their support and blessings.

The actor most recently appeared as Slick Charles in Juel Taylor’s film They Cloned Tyrone, which was released on July 21. Reviews of the movie were favorable, with special attention paid to the comedy and performances of the main cast members.

His next movie, The Burial, a legal drama directed by Maggie Betts, is slated to be released on October 13, 2023, on Prime Video after opening in selected theatres on October 6, 2023.
