My Hero Academia‘s conclusion got everyone emotional. A quirkless boy’s journey to be the greatest hero was inspiring. Kohei Horikoshi gave a wholesome end to Izuku Midoriya. After eight years, he became a teacher at UA, guiding future generations. Even after everything, the mangaka failed to introduce one character. Since the start of the manga, the fans eagerly wanted to see Deku’s father.
The manga took a decade to conclude, and then there was an eight-year time skip, yet there is no mention of his father. Kohei Horikoshi confirmed the appearance of his father in the future. The fans are upset after knowing that it was all a lie and the mangaka never bothered to reveal him.

Since the serialization of My Hero Academia, Izuku Midoriya, popularly known as Deku, always had the support of his mother, Inko Midoriya. Later, he was guided by All Might, Gran Torino, and others. The only person missing from his life was his father, Hisashi Midoriya. Unlike Deku, he has a quirk that allows him to breathe fire. But he has never been around because of his official meetings in foreign countries.
The fans were eager to see Deku’s father. They were overjoyed when Kohei Horikoshi confirmed his debut at 2018’s San Diego Comic-Con. But the confirmation never became a reality. It turned out to be one of the biggest lies since the mangaka never even had him mentioned in his work. When the world was in turmoil due to the villains’ rampage, there was no sign of him. He left his wife and kid alone at the epicenter of everything.

Even if he is busy with business meetings, he could have called his son to congratulate him on saving the world. Kohei Horikoshi had ample time to bring back the father from his foreign trips. San Diego Comic-Con was six years ago, but apparently, it was not enough for the mangaka to give him his manga and anime debut. Fans’ only hope is to keep their fingers crossed for a sequel.

After My Hero Academia’s end, social media flooded with comments asking for the whereabouts of Izuku Midoriya’s father. Even when he was a quirkless child, his father never came to comfort him. His business is always in the way of his family. The fans have asked why the mangaka feels the need to betray the fans. He could have diverted the question about the father instead of giving everyone false hope.
There might still be a chance of Deku’s father appearing in Kohei Horikoshi’s magnum opus. My Hero Academia scheduled an announcement for August 5, 2024. Countless fans want it to be a sequel like Naruto since they were disappointed with the ending. If Horikoshi announces a sequel, he might have a chance to redeem himself.
My Hero Academia can be streamed on Crunchyroll, and the manga is available on Viz Media.
