He definitely is returning for it. We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth.”

The series creator previously revealed that the story will have to continue in some other way after its season finale two years ago. This also gives a hint that they are not yet done telling the narrative of the Shelbys.

Peaky – in this incarnation – comes to an end. But we’re doing a film which will also carry on the family and the stories into the Second World War.”

Speaking with Esquire, Knight teased that he already has ideas but is still in the dark about how to weave and execute them. Still, he believes he will figure it out sooner.

The film, I know exactly what it’s about. And I know what two stories it’s going to tell. How the story will unfold, I don’t know. What will happen after that, I want that to depend on the film. For all we know somebody is going to pop out – I think I know who it’s going to be.”

He also hinted that the new cast members that were introduced in the last few seasons will have a more significant role in the upcoming movie.

In series six we’re bringing in the new generation, and they are going to be part of what happens in the film. I think it’s finding those actors that you just watch and you think, there you go. There’s the future.”

Indeed, there are still many gaps that need to be filled in while Knight and Murphy prepare for the much-awaited movie version of the hit BBC show.

Steven Knight Has Been Working On The Script

Last year, Knight gave a promising update via Radio Times and said that he has started getting in the groove to finish the script.

I’m just working on the final bits of it at the moment. I just sit down at the keyboard and start. It’s a bit like having a dream, for me. You sit there and all this stuff comes, and then you read it back and think, ‘That’s pretty good – but where did it come from?’ The plan is to start shooting that in the middle of next year.”

With the producer confirming the return of Cillian Murphy into the Peaky Blinders franchise and his exciting update on the start of the film’s production, it won’t be long until fans will meet the enigmatic Thomas Shelby again, this time on the big screen.
