Tom Cruise is one of the most attractive and hottest talents, and he has been married three times; the one which remains controversial is his relationship with Nicole Kidman. Cruise and Kidman were once the happiest couples in Hollywood, and they first met in 1990 on the set of Days of Thunder.

They got married the same year and announced their split in 2001. During their relationship, the couple experienced serious complications in two pregnancies. At the time of their divorce, the Jack Reacher actor declined to reveal the reason behind their broken relationship and told Vanity Fair,

“She (Nicole Kidman) knows why, and I know why.”

Though according to writer Andrew Morton’s Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography, the actor allegedly left his wife in shock as he delivered the news of their split via a third party. While the couple was expecting a child early in their marriage, first they experienced an ectopic pregnancy, and during the second time, she suffered a miscarriage.

Andrew Morton detailed the incident in his titular book and claimed that Nicole Kidman phoned Tom Cruise to break the news of her miscarriage, though he “sent flowers but did not visit her at the hospital.” Later in 2018, the actress opened up about the miscarriage she suffered during her marriage with Cruise. She told W magazine:

“I know the yearning. That yearning. It’s a huge, aching yearning. And the loss! The loss of a miscarriage is not talked about enough. That’s massive grief to certain women.”

Despite their painful split, the former couple maintained their privacy. Two years later their divorce, in 1993, Nicole Kidman and her then-husband Tom Cruise decided to adopt two children: a daughter, Isabella, and a son, Connor.
