After the departures and sad farewells (and some removals), Ben Affleck plainly stated that he is not interested in taking part in James Gunn’s DCU. Fans rallied behind the actor as the statements showed a direct loyalty to Zack Snyder as the people prepare for a new lineup of DCU films and series under the reign of James Gunn.

After a controversial interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Gone Girl actor seemed to point out his dislike for James Gunn. In his statements, the actor talked about his upcoming company with Matt Damon, his hatred for Joss Whedon’s Justice League, and his loyalty to visionary director Zack Snyder alongside many other things.

In his interview, Ben Affleck revealed that he would refuse to direct a movie if James Gunn’s DC approached him to appoint him as a director. Affleck stated that he has no hatred for James Gunn personally but he would not work under Gunn’s reign.

“I would not direct something for the [James] Gunn DC. Absolutely not. I have nothing against James Gunn. Nice guy, sure he’s going to do a great job. I just wouldn’t want to go in and direct in the way they’re doing that. I’m not interested in that.”

Suffice it to say, the people bowed down to the actor out of respect since he essentially proved his loyalty to the visionary director that left the DCU after his vision of Justice League was showcased to the world.

The people’s reaction was clearly anticipated since many were heartbroken with the departure of Henry Cavill, the walk-off of director Patty Jenkins, and now Ben Affleck. This wasn’t all since Ben Affleck also talked about his friendship with co-star Matt Damon and their company that they are excited to share with the world.

In the continued interview, Ben Affleck was ecstatic to talk about his friendship with Matt Damon which has spanned over 40 years throughout Hollywood. The Pearl Harbor actor talked about his company with the Good Will Hunting co-star and his beloved friendship.

“I suppose the reason it works is that I trust him and love him, and I know that this is somebody with integrity. In this business, failure is hard, and success is confusing and can make you lose your bearings. Having that friendship as a touchstone over the years was really meaningful.”

The actor continued to talk about his movie The Last Duel which saw the two sharing the screen after many years.

“One of the things we reflected on when we did The Last Duel that caused us to want to do this company together was the fact that we wished we’d kept working together more over the years. We fell prey to this idea that “Well, if you don’t individuate your careers and do your own things, people will always associate you together. That will be limiting.”

With the projects lined up for James Gunn’s DCU and an unconfirmed return of Ben Affleck, people wonder about what tricks the Marvel director has up his sleeves to save the DCU from drowning.
