Tom Hanks has quite the persona. The Forrest Gump star’s stature in the industry has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. And any one who has been in touch with him couldn’t help but agree that he is a step ahead of the rest. Conan O’Brien is no different. The comedian had one of the most intriguing interactions with the Angels and Demons star. And it left him feeling a little different. He not only felt nourished; he felt a little creeped out as well.
The impact some people have ft. Conan O’Brien
In an episode of Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, the comedian recollected how it felt running into Tom Hanks in one of the most unexpected of places – a restaurant. The 60 year old had worked with him before on previous occasions as well. But their next meet didn’t go as planned. It was far from the customary usual old friends meet. Sharing the impact some men had on him on a single interaction, he said,
“Sometimes you bump into someone and you feel that you’re nourished. You just have this really nice feeling. You feel lifted.” (YouTube)
It wouldn’t take long for him to turn to showering praises on one of his idols.
Conan O’Brien met Tom Hanks at the most unexpected place
There had been many stars who have left an imprint on him in a single interaction. But one name that he can’t ignore in that elite list was that of Tom Hanks. A Man Called Otto star once met the comedian by chance. And it was quite the meeting.
He said,
“I was in a restaurant and I was walking out. And Tom Hanks is there. Anytime I bump into that guy I leave with this tingly feeling. He does something that makes me feel like you know, yeah (replying in the affirmative when a voice said ‘like Santa Claus’).”
Turns out he did do a very quintessential Santa Claus thing.
Tom Hanks made Conan O’Brien feel a little creepy
O’Brien continued his tale, saying,
“He actually gave me a cotton candy, which I actually found creepy by the way.”
The gathering couldn’t subdue it’s laughter. But that wasn’t all to the story. He continued,
“He was there with Rita and I left and felt like it wasn’t like a ‘Oh my god, I’m with Tom Hanks’ cause I’ve worked with him and done a bunch of things and interviewed him.”
What stood out for the host was how a star of Hanks’ stature made him feel. He said,
“It was more just that he was so funny and I could see he saw me as a person. We had this nice moment. He made me feel better. And he does this for every person.”
That is just the impact some people have. Tom Hanks is on the top of that list.
