Despite a star-studded cast that included, Andrew Garfield, Tadanobu Asano, Ciarán Hinds, and Liam Neeson, the film was a box office bomb. Despite the loss, the film was praised by fans and critics all over the world. As for Driver, Scorsese’s praise isn’t less than any prestigious award.

At the Telluride Film Festival back in 2019, director Martin Scorsese publicly praised actor Adam Driver after working with him in 2016’s Silence, which only made $22 million against its $50 million budget. The director said (via Farout Magazine),

“I can’t tell you the perseverance and the beauty of the performance and the experience I had with him,” adding, “He has marvellous screen presence. One of the best, if not the best, actors of his generation.”

Driver has delivered many outstanding performances in various blockbuster hits. His strong on-screen presence, distinctive features, and dedication have made him an iconic figure in the entertainment industry.

Just like Scorsese, Adam Driver is also not a huge fan of superhero movies. The director famously blasted Marvel movies in 2019, claiming that “they’re not real cinema” and they’re more like a “theme park.” Earlier this year, there were rumors that Driver was approached for the role of Reed Richards in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Fantastic Four, however, Driver reportedly turned it down due to some issues with the role.

Apart from Silence, Driver has worked in various movies throughout his career. His ability to smoothly transition between different genres makes his performances a treat to watch as a fan. Despite the financial failure of Silence, the movie still stands as one of the best movies in Driver’s filmography and proof of Driver’s dedication as an actor.
