There’s this one on-screen couple that Marvel fans would want to see get along in real life. Even though their chemistry is so impressive, Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow were nothing more than just co-actors. They are too comfortable around each other that it didn’t stop fans from questioning if they’re dating in real life.
Tony Stark & Pepper Potts became the pioneer couple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But it was only limited to the MCU and not off-screen for the actors.
The two actors and off-screen friends appeared in multiple MCU films as Iron Man (Downey Jr.) and Pepper Potts (Paltrow) in 2008. They exited the MCU with 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
Their togetherness was also shown in an event where Paltrow made a cheeky comment on Downey Jr., and he couldn’t just say anything but rather blushed.
Gwyneth Paltrow Left Robert Downey Jr. Speechless with Cheeky Compliment
During a press event for Iron Man 3 in 2013, Gwyneth Paltrow‘s unusual compliment left Robert Downey Jr momentarily at a loss for words. The actress said (via Movie Maniacs):
“So it doesn’t matter really that it’s a big pop culture movie, you know, because you’re not doing it with some 26-year-old shirtless guy who doesn’t really have a lot to say. You know, you’re doing it with Robert Downey Jr. It is artistically fulfilling. By the way, him without shirt is awesome.”
She continued and said:
“And he has the best butt in the world. I recommend you touching it on the way out.”
Downey Jr. seemed totally embarrassed. The actor didn’t know how to respond, so he could only say, “Great Idea.” It shows their comfort level is so high that they can say anything to each other’s faces. The Hollywood actress is recently on an acting hiatus but she said that Downey Jr. can bring her back in it.
Gwyneth Paltrow Said Robert Downey Jr. Could Bring Her Back to Acting
Gwyneth Paltrow has been on an acting hiatus. Her last camera on work was in 2020’s Season 2 of The Politician. The Oscar-winner is now focusing on her lifestyle brand Goop. So the question will she ever get to return to acting? Well yes.
And the only way is her Iron Man Co-star Robert Downey Jr., who could convince her to unretire. Paltrow told Entertainment Tonight in an interview that it would be very hard for her to act right at the moment, just because of her job. But “Robert Downey Jr. could probably always get me back,” she quipped.
