Empire’s World Exclusive Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Cover gives a glimpse of the genre-breaking sequel. The first movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse film led to a change in the standard of animation, it showed the world what animation could do. The popping colors, varied animation styles, constant jump from 2D to 3D, and different frame rates were all used to tell an emotionally riveting story.

Spider-Verse is back to push the boundaries further, break more rules, and achieve the impossible. The sequel has the pressure to do something most Hollywood animated films have failed to do yet, that is outdo Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.

Miles Morales is a My Hero Academia fan in the films

One of the core reasons why Spider-Verse is so memorable is because of the great characters that populate the film. The protagonist himself, Miles Morales is a teenager who is pumped with energy, overflowing art, and enthusiasm about life until his dad drops him at school. He finds himself unable to fit in, something that many young audiences can relate to.

Morales, when bitten by the Spider, learns the nitty-gritty of becoming a superhero, and despite his amateur ways manages to save the day. In the sequel, we get to see a more nuanced Miles Morales, like in Across the Spider-Verse  Morales is a My Hero Academia fan.

Chris Miller opens up about the pressure to outdo Into the Spider-Verse

New Trailer release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Speaking to the Wrap, filmmakers Chris Miller and Phil Lord shared the pressure of following up on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Chris Miller reveals,

“There’s a lot of pressure on these films because you want the movie to deliver an engaging story and an emotional journey. You also want it to be all the things that people are hoping for but then also you need it to be something that people didn’t even know that they wanted.”

He continued,

“Because the whole idea of these movies is we’re showing you something you’ve never seen before. And if we just did a fun mild story that felt like the first movie, I think it would be a bit disappointing. You want to feel like you’re seeing visuals that you’ve never experienced before,”
