From their specialization in haki to possessing Devil fruit powers, every strong character in the series has their unique strength. This also includes Monkey D. Dragon.
There are several speculations about Monkey D. Dragon’s potential strength and abilities to rival the legendary Pirate King Gol D. Roger. The Pirate King is considered one of the most powerful pirates in the series. However, the extent of Dragon’s power and strength is unknown, which points to the possibility of him matching up against Roger.
Monkey D. Dragon’s enigmatic strength and power in One Piece
One Piece written by Eiichiro Oda features some of the strongest and formidable characters. While the power and strength of certain characters are known to the readers, some remain an enigma, such as Monkey D. Dragon. He was first introduced to the readers in the Loguetown Arc, where he saved Luffy from Smoker.
Besides that, several fan speculations point out that Dragon possesses a wind-type Logia fruit. This might be plausible considering how strong gusts of wind never seemed to affect him, but those around him during the Roguetown arc. A user named @_luffy.v shared a clip from the series that seemed to hint at Dragon’s ability on Instagram.
Another interesting theory that adds up to Dragon’s uncontested power and mysterious nature is that he might possess the rare Conqueror’s Haki. Some users of Conqueror’s Haki include Monkey D. Garp, Luffy, Boa Hancock, Shanks, and the legendary pirate king Gol D. Roger. And while this may be true to some extent, it hasn’t been proven yet.
While this theory may seem plausible because Garp and Luffy can use this rare Haki, the author hasn’t verified this claim. Oda has maintained an air of mystery around Monkey D. Dragon, especially for his powers and limits.
The uncontested Pirate King in One Piece
The legendary Pirate King is considered to be an unparalleled rival for Whitebeard, Rocks D. Xebec, and even Garp for that matter. Apart from being the pirate with the highest bounty in the series, Roger managed to gather the legendary treasure One Piece and was a threat to the World Government.
With his mastery over all the three major Haki, he is one of the strongest pirates in the series. Shanks and Roger are similar in the sense that both have mastery over the three types of Haki. And while both have not consumed any devil fruit, Roger would still prove to be unparalleled in a duel against the Red-haired Pirate in terms of his strength, endurance, agility, and haki.
His ability to locate poneglyphs coupled with his mastery over 3 types of Haki makes him an undisputed opponent. Moreover, the fact that he did not consume any devil fruit and was able to defeat and rival Whitebeard and Rocks D. Xebec proves why he was given the title of the Pirate King.
While Monkey D. Dragon’s powers are not fully known, he might be able to rival Gol D. Roger. However, his victory in a duel against Gol D Roger isn’t certain, as Dragon’s Haki and the full extent of his powers are not yet revealed.
