‘He is Many, Many Different Characters’: Kevin Feige Reveals Kang is Deadlier Than Thanos Because of His Kang Variant Army

In one of the most interesting installments of Marvel Phase 4, we saw the Time Variance Authority established by He Who Remains face off against the titular character from the Disney+ series Loki. Many dangerous personalities were released by the end, including Kang the Conqueror.

At the end of Loki, Loki’s variant Sylvie kills He Who Remains and liberates all other variants of him, some not very nice ones. With Marvel announcing the upcoming productions, the variants of He who remains will reportedly play a far bigger role than expected.

Big purple leaves a big gap

After the climax of the Endgame, many complained of a lack of tension and the threat of real danger in the MCU since the departure of Thanos. The mad titan truly posed an existential threat to the heroes of MCU, technically winning at least once.

Thanos was played by Josh Brolin, who also played Cable in Deadpool.

Excluding the issue of the main villain, many also complained about having disjointed stories across the universe and weak villains for many new heroes introduced in the fourth phase.

Kang the Conqueror rivals the Mad Titan

Amongst the many variants of He Who Remains that got out, one of them was Kang the Conqueror. He who remains described Kang as ruthless and power-hungry, as he was hellbent on conquering the Multiverse. Kang ends up taking He Who Remains’ position as the leader of the TVA.

At the San Diego Comic-Con, the architect of the MCU, Kevin Feige stated that Kang the Conqueror will be replacing Thanos as the big bad in future productions, especially the Avenger sequels. Furthermore, he spoke in an interview with Phase Zero and commented:

“What I love is that [Kang]he’s totally different than Thanos. That he’s completely different, that it’s not just, ’How ‘bout… is there a bigger purple guy with a helmet.’ ……Kang is a very different type of villain and the fact that he is many, many different characters is what’s most exciting and most differentiates him.”

While Thanos threatened the universe, Kang is expected to go after the multiverse, as was his plan before being stopped by He who remains. The conqueror is announced to feature in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, allowing us to see the new big bad in all its glory.

The next season of Loki is expected to be released on Disney+ in the Summer of 2023.
