While it must be devastating for the actor to accept his defeat after putting in his great efforts for Maestro, Murphy’s performance garnered worldwide acclaim, with many having positive expectations regarding his nomination.
Bradley Cooper’s Maestro Earned 7 Nods at Oscars 2024!
Cooper’s Maestro revolves around conductor-composer, Leonard Bernstein and his relationship with his spouse, Felicia Montealegre. He put in his all for the project as he was involved in direction, writing, starring, and even producing. In the 96th Academy Awards, his project earned a total of 7 nominations including Best Leading Actor and Best Actress.
However, he went empty-handed this Oscars despite getting 3 nominations for writing, producing, and starring in the Oscar-nominated movie. While the other categories included Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Sound.
As for Oppenheimer, it bagged seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director (Christopher Nolan), and Murphy for his acting work. Even his co-star, Robert Downey Jr. contributed to the streak by winning the Best Supporting Actor award.
