Dave Filoni Reveals Plans For Star Wars After His Promotion At Lucasfilm

In his interview with Vanity Fair, Dave Filoni shared his plans for the Star Wars franchise now that he has been promoted and will have more control over many projects. He stated:

In the past, in a lot of projects I would be brought into it, I would see it after it had already developed a good way… In this new role, it’s opened up to basically everything that’s going on. When we’re planning the future of what we’re doing now, I’m involved at the inception phase.”

I’m not telling people what to do. But I do feel I’m trying to help them tell the best story that they want to tell. I need to be a help across the galaxy here, like a part of a Jedi Council almost.”

Filoni previously worked on shaping Star Wars animation through shows, and now he has immersed himself in live-action filmmaking. He became the producer for The Mandalorian and its spinoff, The Book of Boba Fett, working closely with director Jon Favreau on bringing the stories of a galaxy far, far away to the small screen.

Moreover, about twenty years ago, he was a young talent hired by George Lucas to work on the Clone Wars series.

While fans are enthusiastic to hear Dave Filoni’s promotion at Lucasfilm, some are not particularly happy that President Kathleen Kennedy remains in her position. They blame her dismal handling of the franchise for the failure of the Skywalker saga.

Even Jon Favreau had issues with Kennedy because she kept meddling with his creative plans for The Mandalorian, causing tension in the production and the director wanting to leave the project altogether.

Fans reacted to Filoni’s promotion, and many of them wanted him to take over the Star Wars franchise. Check out their tweets below:
