Last year Sony and Marvel studios produced a brilliant animated superhero flick revolving around the fan-favorite MCU character Spidey. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson was in the hype as fans were certain that the movie would hold the Golden Statue at the 2024 Oscars.
However, legendary Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki was in the contest and fought the hard battle and the voters eventually favored Miyazaki’s 2023 masterpiece The Boy and the Heron. However, the actor and musician, Shameik Moore was not happy with the Spider-Verse snub.
Shameik Moore Was Unhappy Losing The Best Animated Feature To The Boy and the Heron
Shameik Moore who voiced Miles Morales in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse had a hard time losing the Best Animated Feature to Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron. The actor made a harsh remark alleging the Oscars of robbing the statue from the Spider-Verse movie. In two posts on X (one is the corrected version of a spelling error rectifying it with an asterisk), the actor claimed that the Oscar war “*robbed” from his movie. In another post on X, he wrote:
“Respect to the winners. It’s true, I’m definitely a sore loser, but we didn’t lose, Spiderverse has impacted ALOT of lives, we may not have been acknowledged tonight but life goes on, and BEYOND….. yea get ready.”
Moore was almost certain of the win of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and certainly, it was one of the best MCU movies Sony has produced. Fans and critics hailed the movie as it went on to gross over $690.9 million at the global box office.
Fans Are Upset With Shameik Moore’s Distasteful Remark
Hard battle! But fans dubbed Moore’s comment as distasteful for all the good reasons. There are ample reasons to celebrate Moore’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as it stood high above the ground with its fellow nominees but the contest with Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron was tough and the legendary director was with the win. While several fans applauded for the Spider-Verse movie, most were disgusted seeing Moore’s poor response to his loss.
No respect for the competition is toxic. Clearly doesn’t watch other movies.

Spider-verse is cool and all with its digital effects but the boy in heron is just simple, classic style and doesn’t rely on flashy effect to make a good story

Denial, just accept that Miyazaki is a legend, you got bested by a superior film… Move on

The Boy and the Heron has been a critical darling and made an astounding case in the strong battle against fellow nominees, Alongside, Moore, and Miyazaki two movies, Robot Dreams, Elemental, and Nimona were in the contest.
