Directed by James Wan and starring Jason Momoa, the upcoming DC film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has been in conversation for several reasons. Whether it’s James Gunn taking over the DC Universe or having Amber Heard return as Mera, it doesn’t seem to have a positive impact on the movie. Once again, the upcoming sequel is in talks due to Momoa’s co-star, who had been involved in a controversial lawsuit with her ex-husband.

Among many other claims, a new report from Variety has revealed that the Rum Diary star felt unsupported by the film’s director, who allegedly prevented her from promoting the Aquaman sequel online.

James Wan Restricted Amber Heard From Posting About Aquaman 2

A new Variety report based on Amber Heard’s therapist’s notes has revealed some intriguing details about her upcoming film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The report alleged that Jason Momoa once came drunk on set and was dressed like Heard’s ex-husband, Johnny Depp. “Jason said he wanted me fired,” the report states.

Apart from Momoa, the therapist notes also claim that the film’s director, James Wan, was unsupportive of the Zombieland actress due to the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial. The notes state that Wan prevented her from posting about the movie or taking pictures on the set.

“He raised his voice @ me — ‘I can’t even post about Aquaman’ — made it like it was my fault – I said ‘I’m sorry,’” say Hughes’ notes in reference to Wan. “Nobody could take selfies with me on set given blackout.”

The Conjuring director has not said anything in response. However, a DC spokesperson has claimed that Wan is known for having a positive attitude toward his cast and crew. And he was the same while filming Aquaman 2 as well.

Amber Heard Was Nearly Fired From the Aquaman Sequel

There have been several reports about the studio wanting to fire Amber Heard from the Aquaman sequel. It was assumed that the decision was being taken due to the controversial Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial. However, Variety’s sources have suggested otherwise.

According to Variety, the studio and the filmmaker James Wan were looking forward to firing Heard, not because of the trial but due to her lack of chemistry with Momoa. They also reportedly sent a letter regarding the same to her attorney, Karl Austen.

Sources claimed that the studio took the decision before Depp filed the lawsuit against his ex-wife, and the Aquaman actor had no involvement in it. However, it has been contradicted by another source that states that Heard did a chemistry test with Momoa and beat out two actresses in the same process.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to release on 20 December 2023.
