Mishaps are something that can occur anywhere, at any time, without any prior notice. And when such mishaps happen during film shoots, it takes nothing less than a great actor to ignore them and continue their work. One such incident happened with the Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson, who bravely ignored such an incident, and continued to act like nothing happened.

The incident happened during the actress’ first stage play, A View From The Bridge in 2011, Arthur Miller adaptation, where Scarlett Johansson played the role of a 17-year-old girl in 1950s New York opposite Liev Schreiber, who played the role of her uncle.

Talking about the incident, the Black Widow actress explained the embarrassing moment that took place during the live performance of their play. According to Scarlett Johansson, this happened in an intense moment between the two actors, where the X-Men actor accidentally spat on her face due to the heat of the moment.

“We’re really close to one another and we have these scenes where he’s getting really upset and there’s a lot of rage. A couple of weeks ago we were doing this scene. He’s right here (in my face) and he’s screaming at me and all of a sudden – it happened almost in slow motion – I saw it. These pearls of spittle. And then this one asteroid of a loogie (landed on my forehead) made that flicking sound. Any normal person would wipe it away but I felt the show must go on. He saw it, I saw it. It was awful.”

And just like a professional, Scarlett Johansson ignored it and continued acting, irrespective of how awful she felt about it. And though the actress later claimed that the embarrassing incident was ‘no big deal’, she wasn’t too subtle about sharing it and calling her co-actor out on it.

Liev Schreiber, however, opposed these claims of the Black Widow actress, calling them ‘exaggerated’ in Scarlett Johansson’s eyes. In a joking manner, he told MTV News in an interview,

“I’m kind of pissed off, to be honest. First of all, what really happened is sometimes in the course of doing an Arthur Miller play full speed every night your mouth tends to lubricate itself. I can assure you it was nothing more than spittle. Apparently, she said I hocked like an asteroid-sized loogie onto her forehead which is just not true.”

According to the X-Men star’s point of view, even though the incident did happen, however, Scarlett Johansson was merely overstating the facts and that it was no big deal. He even hinted about the tea he had on Johansson that he could spill if he wanted to.

Nonetheless, Liev Schreiber was much impressed with the Black Widow actress’ acting skills and her calm and composure on stage and off stage during their time together. He even claimed that they had a ‘real actor’ on their hands, referring to Scarlett Johansson.
