New pictures from the sets of The Penguin have emerged and there is something that fans don’t like about actor Colin Farrell’s makeover for the role of Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot / Penguin. The spin-off series focuses on Penguin’s rise to power in Gotham City’s criminal underworld.
Fans have pointed out that in the show, Farrell’s Penguin looks exactly like Hollywood actors in the 1970s and 1980s, in fact, a fan put a picture of Richard Kind right next to Farrell as Penguin, adding that Kind should sue them for the similarity. The Penguin, which recently received a TV-MA rating, is scheduled to be released on Max in late 2024 and will consist of eight episodes.
Fans say Colin Farrell’s makeover for The Penguin makes him look exactly like Richard Kind
Some pictures of Colin Farrell‘s makeover for the upcoming series The Penguin were posted on social media recently. Farrell indeed looks unrecognizable but fans pointed out that he looks exactly like actor Richard Kind. The Penguin takes place one week after the events of The Batman (2022), focusing on Penguin’s rise to power in Gotham City.

People still saying this is the clearest example of people still equating looks to acting capability
Has it ever occurred to you the reason Colin Farrell is cast is because he’s a really good actor and better than Richard Kind

Richard would've been in that makeup chair for 8 minutes.

Richard Kind has been a part of the industry since 1984 and he has successfully established himself as a talented actor with his performances in films like Johns (1996), Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With (2006), Big Stan (2007), A Serious Man (2009), Argo (2012), Suburbicon (2017), Bombshell (2019), Tick, Tick… Boom! (2021), and Beau Is Afraid (2023).
The Penguin has received a TV-MA rating
Fans went wild after it was previously revealed that the highly anticipated The Penguin received a TV-MA rating. In a recent interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Farrell explained how this rating will allow the showrunners to explore more violence,
“I hear that we’re going to be allowed to kind of do an R-rated version, perhaps, which would be nice to explore the violence that could permit, perhaps, and the darkness that could allow us to explore. So, all of those things.”
Apart from Farrell, the series also features Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone. The production was slowed down due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike but resumed in late November 2023. The series, which will consist of eight episodes, will be released on Max in late 2024 with Lauren LeFranc as the showrunner.
