Cult classics and iconic characters were a part and parcel of Hollywood in the 70s and 80s. Movies created during that period delivered phenomenal cinematic icons that are now revered by movie lovers. Among those graceful figures, Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa and Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso are today’s topics of action.
Considering both the character’s dominance in action, fans wonder who might’ve won had they crossed paths. Further, addressing fans’ questions, William Zabka and Ralph Macchio share fun and give their verdict on the imaginary fight sequence.
Crossing Path Between Rocky Balboa And Daniel LaRusso
Following the success of Sylvester Stallone‘s action flick franchise Rocky, fans and even actors have wondered about a crossover between Rocky Balboa and other iconic action figures. But what attracted fans’ attention the most, is a crossover between Rocky and Ralph Macchio’s The Karate Kid character, Daniel LaRusso.
According to Ralph Macchio, not only fans but even he wanted a crossover between Sylvester Stallone’s character and his Karate Kid figure. Certainly, both the characters were formidable, as Rocky had the eye of the tiger, and Daniel LaRusso had his crane kick and drum technique.
But, unfortunately, despite both of the beloved characters having their own techniques and skills, they never had a crossover. Although fans and even Ralph Macchio pitched for a crossover film, director John G. Avildsen thought it was a “forced” idea, and thereafter refrained from making any such movie.
William Zabka And Ralph Macchio’s Verdict on The Fight
But even after years, the crossover idea still seems to light up Ralph Macchio’s eyes. The actor is still not over his crossover pitch, and now along with him, even William Zabka seems to be interested in the idea. Thus speaking with Cinemablend, The Karate Kid actors spoke about the potential fight.
“So who would win fight between Rocky or Daniel LaRusso? Yeah, Rocky was my hero growing up. I’d have bow to Rocky, I think, crane kick or not. You know, that was my hero growing up in 1976.” Macchio shared.
Giving his honest opinion, Ralph Macchio stated that his character might have the finesse, but Rocky has the sheer strength, which he will definitely use to defeat Daniel. Even William Zabka spoke about a potential fight between Rocky and Daniel and claimed that Stallone’s character would undoubtedly win the fight.
“For sure LaRusso. He somehow would have cheated and got it. There’s no way, especially if he had Miyagi with him. . . . That sinister Miyagi. [Laughs.] That’s a great question. I don’t know. I mean, I think La Russo wouldn’t stand a chance.”
Thereafter, Ralph Macchio and William Zabka even mentioned that the fight wouldn’t last long since Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky would defeat Daniel LaRusso in no time. The co-stars claimed it would be a ridiculously quick fight.
