Garnering appreciation for the show’s focus on explosive action, intense family drama, and land ownership disputes, Yellowstone majorly became a binge-worhy show because it glimpsed the life of cowboys.

While the show gained popularity and won millions of hearts, it was Taylor Sheridan’s close friend Josh Holloway who showered the series with utmost support. Speaking to USA Today, Holloway explained his appreciation for the 2018 Western drama, as he admitted watching it with his wife, Holloway even revealed how he manifested his involvement in the show as a cowboy.

I would sit down and watch Yellowstone with my wife and I’d be like, ‘One day, I’ll get a show like this. And I still can’t believe I’m on the show.

Being a close friend to Taylor Sheridan, who spent their free time horseback riding through the Wyoming mountain ranges, Josh Holloway eventually got a call from the creator, who wanted to cast him in Yellowstone. Holloway believed it was ultimately going to be a dream come true for him, as he would finally play a cowboy. But Sheridan seemed to have different plans.

After watching two seasons on television with his wife, Josh Holloway finally got a call from his close pal Taylor Sheridan, who offered him a role in Yellowstone. The actor was highly excited about joining the cast when Sheridan hilariously crashed his dreams of playing a cowboy. Despite knowing about Holloway’s desire to be a cowboy, the creator offered him the role of a villain.

Despite Yellowstone being majorly focused on cowboys and their lifestyles, Taylor Sheridan hilariously took away Josh Holloway’s opportunity to play the role. Out of his sheer desire to annoy his buddy, Sheridan offered him the role of Roarke Morris in Season 3, while Holloway deeply harbored romanticized notions of the cowboy lifestyle.

When I got the call, I was so excited that I was finally going to get to be a cowboy, because, in 18 years of acting, no one has cast me as the cowboy, for God’s sake. I was like, finally. Thank you, Taylor. And nope. He cast me as a Wall Street guy. I was like, ‘Taylor? Really?’ He thought that was the funniest thing.

In a candid revelation, Josh Holloway thus shared the anecdote about how Taylor Sheridan found humor in the situation after annoyingly crushing his friend’s cowboy dreams.
