Although Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie aren’t together, they are still proud parents and share six children. While being extremely focused on their career, the former couple were still devoted parents to their kids. Especially Jolie who has been there with her children through the ups and downs. Although the actress has three biological children, she wasn’t quite keen on having them until Pitt convinced her.
Adopting several children with Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie completed her happy family. Providing a safe home to her kids, the actress wasn’t quite on the same page with Pitt regarding biological children, as she was scared it might disrupt her family. However, the actor was successful in convincing Jolie, and the two shared three biological children.
Angelina Jolie Built Her Family With Brad Pitt
Starting her family in 2002 by adopting her first child Maddox Chivan from Cambodia, Angelina Jolie embraced parenthood. Three years later the family had another addition when Jolie adopted Zahara Marley, born in Ethiopia. With two kids in her life, the actress started dating Brad Pitt and soon the actor adopted Jolie’s children as his own.
Expressing her great pride in the size of her family and the cultural amalgamation, Angelina Jolie discussed her children with People. “They’re pretty great people and because there’s so many of them, I think they’ve had a very significant effect on each other,” Jolie mentioned. She further added, “I’m very honest with my kids. And I’m very human with my kids”. She further credited Brad Pitt for making a comfortable environment for their children to grow.
Willing to build a family together, the couple decided on expanding further. However, Jolie wasn’t quite keen on having biological children of her own. Scared of disrupting her family and neglecting their adopted kids once their own children arrived, Jolie refrained from having children of her own.
Angelina Jolie Was Scared To Have Biological Children
Angelina Jolie has always expressed her desire to adopt children from different parts of the world. Opening herself up to different cultures, Jolie now homes three adopted kids along with three children of her own. However, initially, the actress didn’t have any strong desire of welcoming children of her own. Constantly fearing how she and Pitt might end up disrupting their happy family, Jolie abstained from having children of her own.
“Before I met Brad, I always said I was happy never to have a child biologically. He told me he hadn’t given up that thought. Then, a few months after Z came home, I saw Brad with her and Mad, and I realized how much he loved him, that a biological child would not in any way be a threat. So I said, ‘I want to try.’” Angelina Jolie expressed.
Opening up about her relationship with Brad Pitt, Jolie mentioned her intentional and planned pregnancy, when she welcomed her first daughter Shiloh Nouvel in 2006. Watching Pitt being involved with their adopted children and loving them as his own, made Jolie realize that she was finally ready to have children of her own.
After her first daughter Shiloh was born, Jolie and Pitt adopted Pax Thien from Vietnam. Further, their household grew even more, when the actress welcomed their twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline, in 2008. Detailing the multicultural impact on her children, Jolie defined it as overwhelmingly positive.
Creating a peaceful and positive environment for her children to grow, the mother of six now focuses solely on her family and career.
