A few days back, Actor and musician Jared Leto became the first person to legally climb the 102-story Empire State Building. He climbed the Empire State Building to announce the 2024 world tour of his band Thirty Seconds to Mars. The tour is in support of their latest album It’s The End of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day.
Though Daredevil Alain Robert who is also known as “the French Spider-Man” climbed the building in 1994, it was an unsanctioned one. And now as Leto scaled the building legally, the House of Gucci actor said that it was always his dream to climb this building. Yet, some fans are not happy.

Jared Leto loves climbing and to achieve this was always on his bucket list. Having completed the first-ever climb of the Empire State Building, the actor said in a statement:
“The building is a testament of all the things that can be done in the world if we put our minds to it, which is largely the inspiration behind our most recent album, It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day.”
He could not stop his excitement of seeing his mother through the window of the 80th floor. He told the Today show:
“I made it. I’m alive. I made it to the top, and I was just saying, I saw my mother in the window of the 80th floor, that was a nice surprise. My mom came to visit.”

Leto shared his thoughts on the climb:
“I was more excited than nervous, to tell you the truth. But I have to be honest, it was very, very hard. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Just the endurance that it took, the stamina that it took, and it was very sharp.”
“To watch the sunrise overlooking the city that’s meant so much to me. Ever since I was a kid, New York stood for the place that you went to make your dreams come true,” Leto said.
Once the world’s tallest building, the Empire State stands 380m (1,250ft) high. It measures 443m (1,454ft) when its antenna is taken into account.
What Fans Are Saying On This?
As the Oscar winner actor scaled the east side of the Empire State Building from floors 86 to 104, a roughly 20-minute hike nearly 1,300 feet up in the air, fans are seemingly not happy with this feat.
On the Instagram handle of Today Show, fans raised an eyebrow.
One user said,
“He did not climb the Empire State Building, he took the elevator to the top then roped the last 10%. Pathetic to call this an achievement.”
Another user went on to say, “Lol he climbed less than a quarter of it…This is so dumb.”
“This guy sucks,” another wrote.
“Did he start from the bottom or was it just that little top bit?” asked one.
However, despite being 51 years old and being an actor, going to the top of the building was not an easy task and the Dallas Buyers Club actor made it and he can be proud of himself for this.
Jared Leto is a part of Thirty Seconds to Mars. The band’s tour is set to begin on March 15 at Lollapalooza in Buenos Aires, with stops in Copenhagen, Paris, and Madrid, before concluding on September 19 in Auckland, New Zealand.
