Many might not know, but as per CNN reports, Carl Weathers was actually a former footballer who had never boxed when he auditioned for the Rocky movies. That’s how flawless and convincing he was at his performance, that despite the lack of boxing knowledge, Weathers managed to land the role of Apollo Creed in the Oscar-winning film and its sequels.
But now, with a heavy heart, we bid goodbye to the icon, who managed to stay relatable in the entertainment industry for decades. Venturing from action flicks to blockbuster franchises like Star Wars and Carl Weathers proved his phenomenal skills in every genre. And now, following his death, The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, who worked with Weathers up close, issued a statement to pay tribute.
“I am heartbroken by this devastating loss. He was a hero from my childhood who I was lucky enough to meet and then had the amazing good fortune to work with. He had the energy and curiosity of a young man paired with the wisdom that his rich life and career afforded him. My heart goes out to his family and countless admirers.” Favreau wrote via the Star Wars website.

Pedro Pascal and Katee Sackoff Mourn Their Co-Star’s Demise
Getting to know about the unfortunate demise of Carl Weathers, Pedro Pascal shared a post via his Instagram account. Pascal and Weathers had been colleagues since their appearance in The Mandalorian, where the former played the role of the titular bounty hunter, while the latter appeared as Greef Karga. Thereafter, Pascal shared an image of Weathers on Instagram with the caption “words fail.”
After Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, who played Bo-Katan Kryze in The Mandalorian, joined the herd and mourned Weathers’ death on Instagram. Sharing a long post, with the caption, “There are no words. I’m in complete shock…” Sackhoff expressed her grief via social media. Following the actress, even Giancarlo Esposito, who played the villainous Moff Gideon, came forward to share his tribute.
“I will sorely miss my dear friend and brother Carl Weathers. You are truly one of the most wonderful human beings I have had the honor and pleasure of spending time with! I am grateful for your influence and support of all things good in my life. This is how I will always remember you. My dear friend and brother.” Esposito wrote via Instagram.
