In the list of the most famous actors to have made their way in the industry by themselves despite having their close family already being a renowned part of it, Scott Eastwood’s name should undoubtedly rank first. Close to having almost the same features as his father, Clint Eastwood in his early years, the younger Eastwood has worked hard, mixing his blood and sweat to reach the established position where he is today.

But while the older Eastwood raised him old-school, with Scott Eastwood being all by himself during his journey to Hollywood, the Fast X actor still talks deferentially about his father, grateful to him for everything he made him go through to become the amazing man he is today.

Scott Eastwood has made a great name today in the industry, all by himself, without the help of his renowned filmmaker dad. But this wouldn’t have been possible had it not been for the old-school values that Clint Eastwood taught him.

Revealing in an interview about how he was treated by his old man in his early years, the Fast X star admitted how he wouldn’t give him even a dime when he was out trying to make his career in Hollywood, besides sharing another story from when he was still a teen.

“I don’t want to give him all the credit, because Mum had a huge part in raising me too, and making me a better man, but he definitely was the hammer. I had taken my younger sister, who was, like, 14, to this party. I left, maybe to go get beer with the guys. And I left her and I didn’t think about it at the time. Later, Dad found out that I’d left her there.”

The events that followed were nothing less than scary. The director, without hesitating, slammed his son into a wall and had his hands wrapped around his throat before punching him square in the face. The younger Eastwood recalls,

“He popped me and said, ‘You don’t ever leave your sister at a party. EVER.’ And it was very old-school, very old-school of him. He wasn’t afraid. None of this new-age bullshit where you can’t even smack the kid because everyone’s afraid of being judged or whatever. That wasn’t the way that shit went down in that family… If you did something wrong, you were going to get punished. I learnt quickly – you don’t do that.”

While you would expect him to turn into a shitty person considering the way Clint Eastwood treated him, Scott Eastwood is, in fact, the exact opposite of that, even pretty great, for some words to describe him.

Although neither time nor his father has been kind to him throughout his childhood to his adulthood considering the way he had been raised, Scott Eastwood is still grateful to his dad to date for everything.

“As a younger kid, there was kind of an aura of greatness. Like, he’s my hero. Now, I think every opportunity is an opportunity to hear another good story. The guy’s like a vault of stories. I try to pry as many stories as I can out of him.”

That being said, Clint Eastwood certainly did an amazing job in making his son a wonderful man, worthy of all the praise and appreciation he gets.
