Well, back in 2011, Michael Fassbender starred in the role of a young Magneto in X-Men: First Class. In an interview, Fassbender talked about how he initially went to Sir Ian McKellen with some ideas about how he studies the veteran actor’s voice and personality.

“Obviously Sir Ian McKellen has done such a great job, and I was aware that fans of the X-Men comic book were very pleased with what he did. Initially I thought to myself, should I study a young Ian McKellen, study his voice and physicality.”

He further continued,

“So I talked to Matthew about it, the first day or second day, and he wasn’t so keen on the idea. He wanted me to use my own voice and take it from there. We wiped the slate clean of that idea and I really delved into the comic books. There’s so much material there, and I was spoiled in terms of biography and putting together a complicated, well-rounded character.”

All things aside, Fassbender is excited to star in David Fincher’s upcoming Assassin movie which will reportedly be one of the greatest movies in 2023 so far.
