Paramount Plus Western crime drama 1923 stars Harrison Ford as Jacob Dutton and Helen Mirren as Cara Dutton. The series, set in the early 20th century, explored aspects of the age and the traits of the characters. Prior to 1923, the duo had worked together in the past but after appearing in the show, speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Mirren revealed that she felt unequal working with the legendary star. Mirren said,

“You know when I worked with Harrison, um, 30-something years ago he was already, a huge movie star you know he’d already done Han Solo. It was like this you know he was there and I was like down there not that he ever treated me that way incidentally he was always very gracious, um, but you know uh it, it was very unequal sort of thing. But the minute I got back with Harrison was more on an equal partnership, not, I’ll never be on the same level as ours and ever but you know at least I’d climbed up a little bit.”

However, the 78-year-old also feels easy around him.

“It was just like it was just this immediate connection it was very it was very extraordinary,” Mirren told the outlet. “And I feel like it shows on the screen you know there is this sort of natural ease we have with each other.”

The duo shared the screen as a couple in the show and they both revealed that they had a great experience collaborating on the project.

Both the actors have derived something precious from their own partners in real life to enhance the romance and bond between the characters they were playing. Ford said found Mirren easy to work with, “I found working with Helen to be extraordinarily uh easy simple straightforward there’s no fussiness about her,” Ford told Entertainment Tonight. Speaking with People, the Blade Runner star further revealed that he admires her work.

“I admire her work and her person [now], and I have all the same degree of admiration for her as I did then. She’s wonderful, she’s just a lovely person, and so it’s been both a professional pleasure and a personal pleasure working with her again.”

For Mirren, Ford has always been a huge star. “When we first worked together, he was a huge movie star and I was like nobody,” she said. However, she “learned a lot from him because I hadn’t done a lot. I’d done a lot of theater at that point, I hadn’t done a lot of movies.” The actor also revealed that she has learned a lot watching Ford act and she still uses it to date.
