Hellblade 2’s reception has been giving players mixed opinions about where it excels the most. There’s a story that’s so enriching that it’s worthy of a movie. Yet, many players argue that the game plays like a movie anyway.
Comparing it to another story-driven masterpiece, fans of Uncharted have once again started praising Uncharted 4 for doing something 8 years ago, that Hellblade 2 only recently explored.
The Realistic Fight Scenes Are Evident in Both Games
When user PainkillerQ8 spoke about how impressive Hellblade 2’s fight sequences look like, the praise was quickly criticized by user Nycewithit1 who compared it to a sequence in Uncharted 4. The post has garnered the attention of both Xbox and PlayStation users who are now going head to head comparing the two games.
On one side, we have those who happen to criticize the time taken by Ninja Theory to finally come out with Hellblade’s sequel. Even though the game itself is nothing short of brilliant, its writing may have taken the spotlight instead of other gameplay elements.

On the contrary, others claim that the game is a sequel they’ve been waiting for the longest time, and it just works. Considering how Xbox hasn’t gotten a big triple-A entry in the story-driven genre in quite some time, this is a big win for fans across the board.
Regardless of the platform, Hellblade 2’s overall art direction and combat system try to blend some of the best aspects of its prequel. Building on that, the game might as well open doors for the potential of yet another game in the saga. Perhaps a spin-off title?
I don’t understand for the life of me why Hellblade 2 is getting so much hate…. If this was a PlayStation game, it will be a whole different story. Smh why can’t we just play a game and just be happy regardless of what platform it’s on. The game is literally a masterpiece 💯 pic.twitter.com/zs0nC4HrAj

Is a Comparison Between Uncharted 4 and Hellblade 2 Even Fair?
8 years ago, Nathan Drake’s journey in Uncharted somewhat saw a conclusion, and we’ve not heard from him since. Even with spin-off titles, the games have majorly focused on storytelling and gameplay sequences like shootouts, driving, traversing small and large landscapes, and so on.
The Hellblade sage places its primary focus on Senua’s journey and how she battles demons of all kinds. Like Uncharted, this saga is too focused on a central protagonist, and most of the story is told through dialogues and cutscenes (that often translate into game sequences). So, a comparison is bound to take place.
However, it’s a little unfortunate to criticize Hellblade 2 as the game never marketed itself as something that’s meant to show off some of the best combat mechanics in video games. Rather, praise for its narrative direction makes more sense.
