Helldivers 2, the third-person shooter and co-op title developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, has been out for over a week and has recorded amazing numbers. The game was released simultaneously on PS5 and PC and has become the largest PC release from Sony on Steam, leaving behind the popular God of War by a huge margin.
The game has a very active community that is growing day by day and has now reached a new milestone, surpassing the massively popular Halo Infinite in player numbers, and it could soon overtake the others as well, proving that it is a bigger live service game than any others we’ve seen so far and is moving towards the developer’s aim of making it the best multiplayer game.
Helldivers 2 Surpasses Halo Infinite’s Peak Concurrent Player Count
Helldivers 2 has left behind 343 Industries and Xbox Game Studios’ 2021 first-person title Halo Infinite in all-time peak concurrent player count, which is the most successful live-service game on the platform, setting new standards for live-service games.
As per SteamDB, the all-time peak concurrent player count of Halo Infinite is 272k, and HD2 has surpassed that. The game’s all-time peak concurrent player count is 333k at the time of writing, and the game hit that only 13 hours ago. It is also the 24-hour peak number the game has seen, with more than 239k players currently playing the game.
The game is also currently the best-selling game, with more than 62k positive reviews, Moreover, the game sold over a million copies in three days and currently has sold over 4 million copies, which says a lot about how well the game is doing and how it has impressed players.
This new concurrent player count of the game has also put it higher on the chart than other popular games like Starfield, which has a CCU of 330k, Destiny 2, which has a CCU of 316k, and several other titles like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Counter-Strike, and more.
The Game Could Leave behind Some Popular Titles Soon
This amazing success has set the game to break more records, and now it has set eyes on surpassing other popular titles. The game is currently at the 28th spot in the most played games on Steam, and despite leaving behind popular titles, it could soon surpass games like GTA and COD.
GTA 5 is currently 4 spots above HD2 with a 364k all-time concurrent player count, and Call of Duty has an all-time concurrent player count of 491k, which is not a big number given how dramatic the success of the game has been.
Some other titles that the game would like to surpass are Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, Palworld, and PUBG: Battlegrounds, which are currently in the 7th, 6th, 2nd, and 1st spots, respectively. It will surely not be easy to beat these games, but if anyone could do it with the escalating success it has seen, it’s this; only time will tell.
