The first major update of Helldivers 2 titled Escalation of Freedom has finally made its way to the game. The update brings a plethora of new content including locations, new enemies, objectives, and much more.
Fans had a lot of expectations with this update since this update would change a lot of gameplay and for good. However, fans are not happy with what Arrowhead has done with the update and think the devs are killing the game.
Latest Helldivers 2 Update Isn’t Going Well With Fans So Far
The Escalation of Freedom update brings tons of new things to the game as well as several improvements. But fans are not finding this Helldivers 2 patch very exciting and one of the main reasons behind is the nerfs that has affected some of the most used and fav-favorite weapons.
Players have complaining that some weapons have become useless and obsolete due to the update including the popular Flamethrower, known for easily taking down Chargers. One player took to the game’s subreddit and shared a long post ranting about the negative issue post update.
The player said that Arrowhead is ruining the game, adding that it nerfed the better weapons to “bring them in line with the crappy ones is .. STUPID!” Several weapons have been fixed or balanced with the update including the GP-31 Grenade Pistol, SG-225IE Breaker Incendiary, CB-9 Exploding Crossbow, and many others.

Fans are not happy with this change and the OP has said that the changes have made the weapons unfun to use. The Helldivers 2 nerfs are important topic of discussion for players and in this case ‘rant’ as these weapons are really helpful against bugs and bots and nerfing them makes them less fun to use.
The Game Is Becoming Less Fun Everyday
Despite the issues, Helldivers 2 has been amazing and players have had loads of fun in these six months blowing their enemies. But it might be coming to end as the OP says that the developer is intent on making things worse by constantly making unnecessary changes.
Several weapons also had the changes in magazines and the player said that the developers should give more magazines, not decrease them. “you keep castrating your bullets and bombs,” the player concluded. Majority of the fans feel the same about this update.

Another fan called this update “the ultimate combination of all unfun mechanics.” Some of the negatives they listed are the poor visibility, constant need to fight heavily armored enemies, and the obvious, weapon balancing, which they called “ridiculous.”
They said that this update shows everything that is wrong with the game design and added that it’s probably the last chance Arrowhead has before the game starts making sense again.
