Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 is one of the most popular third-person shooter video games in the world right now thanks to its engaging action-packed co-op gameplay. However, the game has been facing a major problem that has ruined online competitive video games for many years: Modders and cheaters.
Despite the implementation of many anti-cheat measures, players have consistently reported that they come across many cheaters in the game. This problem has ruined many competitive online video game franchises in the past such as Valorant and Call of Duty. Recently, a clip went viral in which a cheater pretended to be game master Joel and dropped an unreleased APC in the game for players to use.
Cheaters are ruining Helldivers 2
Cheaters and modders have been ruining competitive video games for many years, and now, Helldivers 2 suffers from the same major problem. Since the game’s February release, the problem has been solved to a certain extent but cheaters tend to find workarounds to continue terrorizing servers, ruining the gaming experience for everyone.
Many games in the past have suffered from this problem and have implemented a range of anti-cheat measures, and that’s exactly what Arrowhead Game Studios has been working hard to develop. The game crossed all expectations when it was first released and quickly became one of the most popular third-person shooters in the world. Helldivers 2 was released for PlayStation 5 and Windows on 8 February 2024 and has successfully sold over 8 million units within the first two months of its release.
A cheater posing as Joel dropped an unreleased vehicle in the game
It seems like cheaters are not even trying to hide that they’re manipulating the game. Recently, a clip went viral on social media in which a cheater posed as Helldivers 2‘s galactic game master Joel and spawned an unreleased vehicle in the game. As per GamesRadar, Arrowhead still hasn’t confirmed if a cheater did this, or if it was a result of a deliberate addition.

In the video, the imposter of Joel says in the game chat, “Hey guys I need to get back to work,” adding, “Please take this,” and dropped an unreleased APC-like vehicle in the game which players were able to control. Many players found the clip hilarious but it put a spotlight on the growing problem of cheating in the game.
Arrowhead Game Studios has constantly rolled out updates to improve their game but needs to be quick about taking action as the game is all set to introduce the third faction, which is rumored to be the Illuminate.
