“The future of Helldivers 2”: Johan Pilestedt Needs to Steal 1 Marvel-Inspired Idea to Keep the Game Exciting

It is time the developers of Helldivers 2 spiced things up by taking note of a fellow player's idea.

SUMMARY

  • Helldivers 2 has lost a significant number of players, and the creators need a trump card to get everyone back.
  • A player has suggested the studio can possibly implement something similar to Marvel's What If series.
  • If executed properly, this can be the very thing the studio was looking for to get every player back into the game.

Despite a steep decline in its player base, Helldivers 2 is going strong and seems to be in it for the long run, even aiming for the prestigious Game of the Year award. It also stays true that, being a live-service game, the developers need to continuously brainstorm to develop fresh and innovative mechanics to keep the player hooked.

However, this time around it is the game’s community itself suggesting what can be done next, and the ideas are pretty impressive as well, making them worthy enough to be at least looked over once by the studio.

An animated series by Marvel that really stuck with fans was What If, where the creators themselves answered speculative questions revolving around the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a rather unique way.

Suggesting that something similar can be done with Helldivers 2, given the game’s rich lore about intergalactic species and the never-ending war against them, a player has posted on the game’s official subreddit how Arrowhead can implement the next big feature that everyone would like.

Some of the ideas suggested included how the studio can ultimately pick and answer a few theories the community has been building on for a long time, including what if the automatons bring back the cyborgs from vacating cyberspace.

If executed properly, there is no doubt that the user count for the game will skyrocket once again, increasing player engagement as well. However, all this can only occur if Johan Pilestedt, the Chief Creative Officer of the studio, stumbles upon this post, which is very likely, given how the studio has been looking forward to interacting with its players more than ever.

Why Arrowhead Has Slowed Down with the Introduction of New Content to Their Game

As revealed by the said community manager for the studio, Twinbeard, on the game’s official Discord server, the developers have finally changed how they approach the release of different content to the game, particularly the Warbonds.

As much as it stings, it remains to the benefit of the creators as well as the player to slow down on the number of Warbonds being introduced to the game at this point. While some fans who look forward to new content every now and then would be majorly disappointed, there is fortunately more to look forward to in the coming days.

Despite losing a majority of its player base, Arrowhead is seemingly still committed enough to deliver nothing but the best to the players of Helldivers 2.
