Helldivers 2, like every live service game, is a work in progress. Even though the game launched with what can be considered, by modern-day gaming standards, a handful of glitches, there are always new things cropping up that must be fixed by the team.

As such, any game such as Helldivers 2 requires a dedicated team that is not only knowledgeable about live service processes but committed to delivering a stable and fun experience to the player. Thankfully, Arrowhead Game Studios has a team boasting these qualities, and Johan Pilestedt freely expresses his appreciation.

No game development cycle is smooth, and crunch time can strike without warning. But there is some relief when the game finally hits the shelves. Regarding live-service games, it’s almost like a perpetual final phase of development. The game may have launched and all the major assets are in place, but there are always bugs that need fixing and content that must be updated.

A week or so ago, the team mentioned through the official Helldivers 2 X page that the next major patch for the game would be released sometime in the second full week of June. This was also claimed to be the biggest patch for Helldivers 2 since launch, and Arrowhead really needed it to land with the community.

It seems the patch has been well-received by many in the community, as Pilestedt took to his personal X account to share his happiness at the reception. One of the most important aspects of his tweet was his shoutout to the team at Arrowhead, who have put enormous efforts into ensuring the game is a fun and stable experience.

One reply stated they were happy with Pilestedt taking a more hands-on approach as the new Chief Creative Officer of Arrowhead Game Studios and that his influence has made all the difference. Pilestedt, as any good leader should, once again redirected the praise towards the entire team and reaffirmed Arrowhead’s desire to bring the fans the best game possible.

Arrowhead Game Studios Listened to Fan Feedback on New Warbond

Viper Commandos has been an eye-opener for Arrowhead.
Viper Commandos has been an eye-opener for Arrowhead.

The Viper Commandos Warbond was released yesterday, June 13, but people were not super stoked about what it brought to the game. Many felt this new update to Helldivers 2 was lacking any serious work, criticizing Arrowhead for rushing its development process to stick to its monthly release schedule.

It seems the studio has listened to these fans, as it is now planning on reworking the release schedule to offer the team more time to work on Warbonds. This means fans may not get a new content update every month, but the ones they do get should offer a substantial increase in gear and bonuses compared to Viper Commandos.

This is something the fans have been wanting for a while now. It’s not uncommon for studios to chase the revenue incentive in live service titles while sacrificing quality. It’s good to see Arrowhead has no plans on taking this route.
