Helldivers 2 is a game that doesn’t shy away from experimenting with new things. After all, an ever-evolving title like this needs content updates and improvements in gameplay to stay relevant.
Recently, players discovered how incentives in the game don’t work as well as they’d intended, but this isn’t a problem as such. At least, not for a lot of players.
This Major Order Won’t Be Completed Any Time Soon
In a Reddit post recently, user Defiant_Series2973 shared a screenshot from the game. This is a Major Order that has tasked players to kill enough enemies as a shared goal between players.
Unfortunately, it looks like the number is way too high, and it’s highly skeptical as to how players are going to achieve this goal. The devs have implemented a feature to counter this.

In case the goal isn’t achieved, “Anti-Tank Mine production will be ordered”, ensuring that there’s a way to get rid of all the monstrosity that plagues a planet.
User AgentNewMexico points out how this is indeed a great solution on Arrowhead’s part and maybe the actual effort on the community’s part was indirectly convincing the studio to implement something like this.
In retrospect, many players didn’t want to be part of this Major Order and do something in Helldivers 2 that wasn’t bringing them joy. Additionally, players will now have a chance to try out the Anti-Tank Mine stratagem.

Others like user TuftOfFurr remind fellow Helldivers that for the sake of the ongoing meme, it’s best to avoid using the stratagem. The Helldivers 2 community can be highly persuasive when it comes to things like these.
Helldivers 2’s Ever-Evolving World Needs More Such Shenanigans
The Major Order, on the surface, seems like just another trick in the book to get players something to look forward to. But the way Arrowhead has possibly noticed the meme running around and done something about it shows a lot of promise.
The game in its current state has a variety of objectives and weapons to choose from, and players have the freedom to choose how they play Helldivers 2.
A big part of Arrowhead’s design philosophy is reflected in the game, as players can see this translate into gameplay. Hopefully, the studio will keep bringing more of such ideas to the game to maintain its consistency as a live-service game.
Between new Warbonds and quality of life improvements, Helldivers 2 players have many things to look forward to. Keeping this vision intact, developers can continue making the game something players keep coming back to.
