Things have been pretty rough for Helldivers 2 gamers in the past few days. After weeks of struggling with Automatons on the Malevelon Creek, gamers recently managed to liberate the planet. However, the Automaton faction came back with a greater firepower. Nonetheless, players did manage to hold them off.

Helldivers have been trying to free the universe from these robots. However, there are three more planets that are still under Automaton’s control. Just like the previous time, players gathered once again over the weekend to completely wipe the Automatons.

Major Order in Helldivers 2 to wipe off Automatons

The developers of Arrowhead Studios released a Major Order calling all Helldivers to assemble and fight the Automatons. The new Major Order demanded democracy be returned to the steamy, perpetually twilight jungle world. The devs issued an in-game dispatch that read,

“All Helldivers are ordered to make an all-out push to completely destroy the Automaton Legion. Despite the enemy’s losses, Automaton messages still include references to ‘The Reclamation’. They must be annihilated before this plan can be carried out.”

The dispatch also acknowledged that several weeks ago, the citizens of Super Earth watched in horror as Malevelon Creek fell to the Automatons. It stated that it wanted to honor the “millions of valiant heroes” who passed while trying to defend and scorn the Automatons. These Automatons have since been looting the planet’s “exceptionally rich” rhodium deposits.

70% of the players turn up to fight Automatons

Interestingly, the developers revealed that they themselves did not expect a lot of players to join the assault on the Automatons. Notably, a whopping 70% of the Helldivers 2’s player base joined the battle for tyrannical democracy.

Unfortunately, even that majority was not adequate to finish the Automatons. The campaign managed to reach only 25% of its goal after 28 hours of fighting. This led to several players believing that victory over Automatons may be out of reach again.

On March 31, 2024, Helldivers 2 community manager Spitz spilled some beans about the player’s behavior on the game’s Discord channel. He said,

“70% of players have been fighting bots and we got Ubanea to 96% before Draupnir fell. I’d say people are perfectly fine fighting wherever the [Major Order] sends them.”

The community manager was referring to the unsuccessful attack on the Automaton home base. Nevertheless, he said,

“We actually expected a lot less players to move to the Automaton front for this [Major Order]. 70% is huge.”

The High Command blamed the failure on those troops of players that were “diverted” elsewhere. Apparently, players failed to mobilize in time and ended up losing some crucial planets to the mechanized foes.
