To make amends and make matchmaking more inclusive and balanced, the game needs to implement skill-based matchmaking (SBMM), which was Call of Duty’s most controversial feature, but that might be the only way for them to help make the experience better.

Helldivers 2 Needs Better Matchmaking

×

Helldivers 2 needs to implement better matchmaking techniques, as players are complaining about their experience being ruined because of a higher-elo player who is better at most things and being matched with them leaves little or no scope to explore the game to the fullest.

A Reddit user recently shared their complaints regarding the matter. They mentioned how they got matched with a player with over 50 points and, within 15 minutes, had 50 medals in their arsenal without actually doing anything.

This disparity in rank causes a lot of players to feel useless in the game and also hinders progress, as one does not grow as a player if such things keep happening daily.

The matchmaking in the game needs to be more inclusive of new players joining the game, as it will play a huge role in holding them to the game in the future. If Helldivers 2 keeps up with their current matchmaking, a lot of players will lose interest in the game.

Having a rank disparity is one of the biggest reasons players stop enjoying a game, as it leaves little to nothing for them to learn from. Especially players who join the game after months’ release deserve to stand against players of the same rank rather than many ranks ahead.

Helldivers 2 can not take this lightly and needs to act fast, as this could cause a lot of problems for them in the future. They should start by addressing the players’ concerns regarding the current state of matchmaking in the game.

The game needs to adopt a more sustainable model to maintain its longevity, and skill-based matchmaking is one of the most important aspects that will eventually determine the future of the game.

Helldivers 2 needs to take this seriously, as this can pose a lot of problems for them in the future. It is genuinely a matter of concern for new players and lower-ranked players who enjoy the game but are not okay with just standing idle and winning endlessly.

Many players want to feel a part of the win, grow naturally in the game, get better with each win, and learn something out of the game, and this can only happen if they are matched with players similar to their rank.
