Helldivers 2 players are slowly losing interest in fighting the good fight after recent patches failed to meet expectations and added more new problems. The game developer is struggling to keep the game interesting to players and the dwindling active daily player count is enough proof of this.

The developer failed to realize that the player base must be entertained and kept in check, especially in an ambitious live service like this. Unfortunately, recent controversies and backlash drove a wedge between the community and the developers and players are not satisfied with what the studio presented.

The community has been loud and vocal regarding the recent mandate by Sony Interactive Entertainment that required PC players to link their Steam accounts to the PlayStation Network. It did not take long for the publisher to realize the player base is a force to be reckoned with and caved in.

Unfortunately, the damage has already been done and things are not looking good for the developer after the community explicitly called it out after announcing the recent Escalation of Freedom update and asked it to bring back the fun or crank up the entertainment factor.

The recent update featured countless weapon nerfs making the war effort a hassle and forcing players to abandon their duties.

The hardcore members of the community expressed their concern about failing to meet the current major order since they are short on manpower. It would make sense for other enemy factions to make the most of this opportunity to regain more territory since the player count is slowly decreasing leaving little resistance.

Trust is difficult to rebuild; however, the recent update did a few things right such as updating the aesthetics of the pods and affirming the efficiency of hellbombs against gunship fabricators. These changes may not solve all of the problems the community has pointed out but it is a start.

The Recent Helldivers 2 Patch Caused More Harm Than Good

Online multiplayer games rely heavily on the support of the gaming community and the game’s current state is far from ideal. The players are already giving up while the Second Galactic War is still waging.

The game developers have to shift their focus and energy to workshopping new ways to regain the trust of the player base. Recent controversies strained the trust and foundation between the two parties and it is a shame to see all of it go to waste.

There is still time and hope for Arrowhead Game Studios to turn this around. Director Johan Pilestedt made it his mission to reinstate the game in unsupported regions hoping it would bolster the player count and help fix the game’s image.

Helldivers 2 has unfortunately lost its momentum. Perhaps this will all be remembered as a minor setback in the following months. Are you worried about Helldivers 2? Let us know in the comments section below!
