Chaos continues to plague Helldivers 2 as Arrowhead Game Studios’ recent announcement about the game has led to a mass review bomb, with developers going a bit too far against their community, and now Steam has reportedly begun to make its opinion known on this delicate issue.

According to a select group of now-former Helldivers, there is now the option to claim a refund on your copy of the game, no matter how long you have owned the game. This is a rather troubling turn of events but for those who aren’t happy, this is the best news they could ask for.

Helldivers 2 Has Made a Huge Error and Now It Will Cost Them Thousands

One of the biggest issues with the recent announcement for Helldivers 2 is the fact that Arrowhead isn’t happy with the decision to force players to connect their Steam account with a PSN account, just like players aren’t happy, but that hasn’t stopped the community from retaliating in a major way.

The biggest retaliation has now come from the player base issuing refund requests to Steam in an attempt to try and reclaim their money spent on the game. This is especially evident for those who live in countries where they are unable to create a PSN account.

According to a recent tweet by the Helldivers 2 Media page on Twitter/X, players can request a refund through Steam due to these unfortunate new circumstances, but so far this is only a potential refund as there is no definitive way to prove the refund shown within the tweet was due to these circumstances.

If this rumor is true, then there could be even worse situations awaiting the game as this situation goes entirely against the PC platform’s terms of service, leaving many gamers to wonder if it is even worth the effort of going through the refund process.

Steam Throws Its Terms of Service to the Wind With Its Recent Decision

The refunds could be a bad thing for the game.
The refunds could be a bad thing for the game.

One of the great things about Steam is that it has always had a consistent refund policy, which has always been available for gamers to use if and when they make an error in their purchases, but unfortunately, with any refund policy, there is always a catch.

With the refund policy of the platform, there has always been the limitation that gamers can only request a refund with a high chance of success if they have only played the game for less than 2 hours and have purchased it in the last 14 days.

Now this policy has seemingly gone out the window if the recent reports are to be believed, but only in terms of Helldivers 2, which, if this is true, will likely cause a lot of issues for the platform as well in the near future, and even the hardworking developers at Arrowhead.

What do you think about Valve’s platform potentially providing refunds to players who have suffered due to this recent announcement? Let us know in the comments below!
