Helldivers 2 met with success the moment it was launched. It is now counted amongst the most successful live-service games that have launched in recent times. And if its critical reception and player response are anything to go by, this game being a success is no coincidence either; it’s just a good game that’s getting the success it deserves.

But just like any massive title out there, Helldivers 2 launched with some issues. To their credit, developers at Arrowhead Game Studios quickly started working on a fix. But besides fixing the game until it’s perfect, the developer has some ambitious plans for its future, which might be in full flow now.

Helldivers 2 developers resume working on the upcoming content for the game

Helldivers 2 servers are now fixed and the max player cap is updated.
Helldivers 2 server issues kept the developer busy.

When it launched and crossed God of War in player count on Steam, no one was surprised. God of War is a single-player game, and Helldivers 2 is a multiplayer title with the option to play cooperatively with fans. This means that for every player online in this game, there’s at least one more.

Besides that, it does not have a PVP mode. Also known as player vs. player mode, where gamers compete against each other. The CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios has a very strong stance when it comes to adding PVP to their game. And if it ever comes, it would be a long time to wait.

But before that, fans can expect a bunch of improvements to hit Helldivers 2. The CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios recently took to Twitter/X to congratulate his team on successfully fixing the server issues of the game. Then he went on to say that the team would now start working on future improvements.

He ended this message with, “Now we have time to focus on improvements to the title and resume our original plan. Many exciting things upcoming!” And no doubt this has hyped up this game’s massive fan base like nothing else could have.

It is commendable how they handled those server issues too. The problem started for Helldivers 2 when the company sold more copies than they had ever expected. This meant more players would be logging in to the servers than they could handle. The developers of Helldivers 2 had to work double time to fix this problem.

And now that this problem is solved, it looks like fans will be getting much more content. Maybe some new weapons, enemies, or even maps. Who knows? Arrowhead Game Studios might even release a brand new DLC for the game. Or maybe they would give their fans some more freedom making the game a bit more open.

Besides that, the CEO also suggested a while ago that instead of adding new cool tech like DLSS and FSR to their game, they would rather work on its gameplay. For those unaware, technologies like DLSS and FSR help games run better on PCs. Let’s hope the developer is working on content that’s worth ignoring these technologies.

Helldivers 2 also has another big problem to be fix

Besides solving the server issues in Helldivers 2, the developers have another massive task at hand. It looks like the game is facing a rise in cheaters. They are not just cheating, but actively ruining the game for people who have no intention to cheat.

The developers have yet to make an official statement regarding this. It’s unusual, given the fact that Arrowhead Game Studios CEO is always very quick in responding to fan queries. Maybe they are looking into it? Well, fans hope they are.
