2024 has been a busy year for PlayStation as it has already brought two of the biggest games to the gaming community as both Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade have taken the world by storm, both in their own ways, but this has also opened the floor to new forms of competition between the two titles.
According to a recent post on Twitter/X by user @MatPiscatella Helldivers 2, the game has managed to achieve something that Stellar Blade has so far been unable to achieve. The achievement in question is being one of the best-selling premium games in the US, which is something very few games achieve.
Helldivers 2 Has Managed to Become One of the Most Popular Games in the US, but Stellar Blade Isn’t Far Behind
One of the biggest parts of game development is ensuring that you’re game sells and continues to sell for months after its release. Helldivers 2 and Arrowhead Games Studio, the developers behind said game, have achieved this aspect of game development in more ways than one.
PC has been a huge part of the success of Helldivers II in the US. With PC, Helldivers II is already the 7th highest grossing Sony published game in history. Without PC it wouldn't currently rank among the top 20.

According to Mat Piscatella, a recent report detailing the highest US sales for different game development companies shows that Helldivers 2 is the 7th highest-selling premium game in the US in terms of lifetime dollar sales under the guise of a Sony-published title in history.
This is a massive achievement for Arrowhead Games Studio’s, as it shows that gamers are still purchasing this game even after 2 months of it being released, providing it with a larger player count each and every day.
There could be countless reasons as to why Stellar Blade hasn’t made its appearance on this report as of yet, one of which is primarily down to the title only releasing a few days ago, but the biggest difference is the fact that Helldivers 2 isn’t just counting PS5 sales.
Helldivers 2 Isn’t Just Relying on Playstation 5 Sales to Acquire This Unique Accolade
Even though this is a major accolade for Helldivers 2 and Arrowhead Games Studios, it has slightly been assisted in terms of achieving this accolade, as PS5 sales aren’t the only statistics that are being used to determine its ranking.
According to Mat Piscatella, the main reason that Helldivers 2 has the 7th highest lifetime dollar sales within the US is due to the fact that it also includes sales on PC as well as PS5.

This information doesn’t take away the fact that Helldivers 2 has achieved something magnificent by reaching the 7th highest lifetime dollar sales in the US, but according to Mat Piscatella, if it weren’t for the PC sales being included, it sadly wouldn’t have even hit the top 20 list.
In a response to his own tweet, Mat Piscatella has noted that even though they are outlining the success of Helldivers 2 on PC, that shouldn’t take away the success rate of the PS5 version of the game, as this should also be acknowledged.
