This is the first Sony title of the year and a very anticipated game for some players. The original Helldivers were very well received back in 2015. Seeing the popularity of this title, some PlayStation users are thinking about what could happen with the canceled multiplayer game of The Last of Us.
Helldivers 2 and the Multiplayer Formula that Works
A game as a service is a very complicated genre to launch, but all things considered, Helldivers 2 has a very good release, and the game has much content ahead.
Arrowhead Game Studio has been promoted for a good number of months, and the launch was pretty anticipated. With more than 1 million units sold in just 4 days, this Sony title had a very good beginning. So, fans have started wondering about another multiplayer game that was canceled and could have a very big launch if it were released now.
Last year, the award-winning studio Naughty Dog confirmed that they were developing a multiplayer The Last of Us game. The first title of this franchise had a very well-thought-out multiplayer, and fans were expecting something like that in Part II. Apparently, Naughty Dog, the makers of The Last of Us, were developing a very interesting multiplayer game based on the hit games. But without any hesitation and saying that they were focusing on other projects, the studio canceled this project.
Fans’ Frustration and Thoughts
Some fans are seeing the Helldivers 2 success, and they are wondering about this canceled The Last of Us project and what it could have been. They were very certain that this game would sell very well. In a post X, user DomTheBomb had many replies.

Many users replied that it was better this way, so they could focus on the single-player experience. This acknowledges that fans are very aware of the quality that this studio has with its games. Others were sad and agreed with the post owner. Some said that could be great but were afraid of what Bungie could do to this possible game. But it would be great to see a multiplayer Naughty Dog game based on The Last of Us.
