This title unexpectedly reached the top after achieving unprecedented popularity in the realm of games as a service. Another game that surprised me with its sales numbers was the much-anticipated The Last of Us 2 Remastered. These numbers are primarily based on sales in the United Kingdom over the last six months.
Another Playstation Game Tops the Best-Selling Games Ranking, Along With Helldivers 2
2024 has not been the best year for video games overall; so far, there have not been major releases like last year. However, sales appear to have remained quite stable, with no significant drop in numbers compared to 2023.
One of the best-selling games in these first six months in the United Kingdom is Helldivers 2, accompanied by another PlayStation title.
Another major PlayStation game that leads this ranking is The Last of Us 2 Remastered, which was released in January of this year for PS5.
The report about UK game revenue being down 30% for the first half of the year doesn't quite tell the full story. In terms of the number of games sold, the actual drop is just over 3%. And that's because of lower-priced games doing the business, such as Helldivers 2

Christopher Dring, the founder of Gameindustry.biz, reported that the lack of variety in titles has resulted in a drop in overall sales compared to last year. Still, the decrease in sales has been minimal enough to not be a real concern.
The Last of Us 2 Remastered Is a Sales Success for Playstation
The United Kingdom is one of the largest markets for video game sales and is always a favorable way to gauge the current state of the industry.
Sony maintains its lead in sales despite not selling as many consoles as anticipated, thanks to well-received games such as The Last of Us 2 Remastered and Helldivers 2. The first half of the year had fewer games than players expected.
However, the year is far from over, with many games scheduled for release in the second half that could alter this ranking at any time. Among these highly anticipated titles are Star Wars Outlaws, Avowed, Stalker 2, Black Myth: Wukong, and many more.
There is still a lot of potential for the ranking to change completely, as these games have many fans eagerly waiting to try them.
