As the buzz around 2025’s Superman: Legacy surges, fans get to their work of re-imagining theories and arts. One of DC’s greatest superheroes, Superman has appeared in varied plotlines, which makes a Superman-multiverse a possibility. Marvel has successfully managed to squeeze out the potential of the Multiverse Saga with many of its superheroes and 2023 witnessed many such alternate reality-based films.
With James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over the DC reins, the former has announced that DCU shall consider a similar multiverse angle in the upcoming films. Along the same lines, a fan has shared their ingenuity with an impressive fan art that features the three major Supermen the DC fans have come across in the past few years.
A Superman-verse reimagined
After the success of Marvel’s Spiderman: No Way Home, which featured all three major Spiderman, Tom Holland, Tobey McGuire, and Andrew Garfield in a single movie, fans expect to see some of their favorite DC superheroes in a similar theory. Hence, a superhero fanatic shared their idea of a universe with all three major Superman actors. The fan, buffy2ville took to Instagram and posted the picture deriving much praise from others.
David Corenswet set to star in the 2025 DC movie was centered in the picture while alongside him, Henry Cavill’s Superman and Smallville star Tom Welling stood in heroic unison.
Even though Cavill’s portrayal in Man of Steel, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and a cameo in Black Adam was well-received by the audience, the studio bosses didn’t want to continue with him. Gunn wanted to feature a fresh face for DC’s latest Superman movie. On the other hand, we have Tom Welling, who starred as Clark Kent/Superman in the drama series Smallville for over a decade. It is high time fans see him in an original movie.
An opportunity for DC to bounce back
2023 was clearly not a good year for DC. Despite hiring notable director James Gunn and Peter Safran as the new DC heads in 2022, the studios were unable to bag a global blockbuster this year. However, there is still room for improvement. As per Screen Rant, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Blue Beetle were significant flops, collecting a meager $132.19 million and $125 million at the box office respectively. Also, 2023’s The Flash was marked as one of the biggest box-office flops, per The Direct.
Although there’s no denying that a film featuring all three popular Superman could be no less than a hit. Hence, a chance for DC to break even. The recent fan art feeds into the Superman-verse ideology and has got discussions going on in the DC community. Superman: Legacy will go into production next year, with an expected release date of 11 July 2025. Consequently, hopes are high for the upcoming DC film as fans wait with their fingers crossed.
