Cavill is a role model for his fans for a lot of reasons. His gentlemanly and shy guy attitude has won over hearts at interviews and award shows, and his looks and physique make even the toughest of men question their manliness. And Cavill has put in a lot of hard work to maintain that personality.

However, even the most picture-perfect celebrities can make mistakes, even if it’s not entirely their own fault, as Exercise Scientist Dr. Mike Israetel recently pointed out in one of his recent workout videos.

Renaissance Periodization’s Dr. Mike Israetel was one such influencer who decided to have a look at Cavill’s training program for The Witcher. Though starting out strong, the video fell off for him as it progressed, and he found several of the exercises quite unnecessary.

When Cavill was addressing a cable machine exercise, a more challenging version of the workout, it made Israetel lose his mind. He said:

“Why would it be more challenging? Because you physically can’t use your feet to grip on the floor? Making you weaker in the exercise without actually challenging you? Yes, Guys, listen. Do not go to the gym to get a challenge. You can challenge yourself anywhere. Do your taxes, that’s hard. Challenges should have a purpose.

You want a challenge to make you more mobile. You want to challenge yourself to make you stronger. You want a challenge to grow you more muscle. You have to figure out how you want to challenge yourself and go and do the challenging things that actually get you to your goal. Not just random challenging s*hit! Half of these workout videos are just random nonsense that’s hard.”

The exercise scientist also went on to criticize unnecessary variations of lateral raises further on. However, he did agree that Henry Cavill has made progress.

Fitness Guru agrees Henry Cavill’s training does show results

While Dr. Mike Israetel disliked a lot of Cavill’s movements that were taught to him by his trainer. He did love the Man of Steel’s form during the exercises that he followed diligently. He also remarked how, despite several of the exercise variations being unnecessary, they surprisingly worked for Cavill.

Israetel said,

“The detraction points are from needless complexity, and sometimes just downright poor exercise choice with the whole static hold situation. But the way that they did the glute-ham raise, Romanian deadlift, the curls were okay minus the static hold, lateral raises were fine minus the complexity, indicated to me that there’s something going on that’s effective. And that’s very good.”

The gym expert then goes on to praise how Cavill made it clear that every training program needs to be tailored according to individual needs, and no one should blindly follow someone else’s regime. Israetel gave the clip a 7 out of 10, ending the video by calling Henry Cavill his “dream man.”
