A Berserk Live Action Movie can easily top the list of unrealistic possibilities, at least for now. Kentaro Miura’s manga has too many elements that can’t be translated into other mediums with ease. Besides the insane amount of details that Miura incorporated in every panel, the manga has extremely violent and disturbing elements present in it.

However impossible, Miura had one director in mind that he thought could bring Berserk to life in a live-action adaptation. This director was the three-time Academy Award winner, Guillermo Del Toro. If Del Toro sets his mind to it, Henry Cavill would be the perfect Guts.

All the anime adaptations of Berserk so far have failed miserably. With that, the thought of a live-action seems even more far-fetched by comparison, but the possibility is fascinating nonetheless. Kentaro Miura was asked about a potential live-action for Berserk. Miura shared (via translations on reddit) the different movies that he loved during his college time. After stating the complications that arise during live-action production, he excitedly mentioned Guillermo Del Toro as the director for the Berserk Live action.

Could we ask Guillermo del Toro?

Even though he probably said it in a jestful manner, Del Toro is a great pick. His ability to create an uncomfortable atmosphere in his works is exceptional. His vision can be beautiful for some and horrifying for others, as we have seen in The Shape of Water. The fever dream-like aura in Pan’s Labyrinth and the downright horrific vibe of Cabinet of Curiosities is similar to how Berserk makes one feel.

Berserk is much more graphic and brutal, sometimes highly emotional too. And Del Toro definitely has the ability to pull it off. Miura also talked about one aspect of the live-action that would play a huge role in its faithfulness to the manga. Centering the live-action around Guts’ character in the beginning could prove to be a great decision.

If the film focuses on Guts, the black warrior at the beginning of the series, the result will certainly be faithful to manga.

Hearing Miura’s words instantly leads one to think about the different actors who could play Guts convincingly. And Henry Cavill is one of the best contenders for the role.

Here’s Why Henry Cavill Would be Perfect as Guts

Guts can be an extremely difficult character to play, not just in terms of his personality but also in his physicality. Henry Cavill has the physique to play Guts. From Superman to Geralt, many characters that he has played are muscular in an exaggerated way. This is essential to Guts as well. Besides the jacked body, his physical acting as Geralt in the more serious scenes is intimidating.

Cavill has shown his acting prowess with a wide variety of characters with different personalities. The seriousness and intensity he portrayed as Superman could translate seamlessly into Guts’ character. Although, it’ll also need a generous dose of ruthlessness.

Cavill convincingly portrayed the more comic and aloof Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes. His ability to mold himself into characters that are worlds apart instills confidence. Both Guillermo Del Toro and Henry Cavill are well-established in their respective careers. There’s no doubt that they could create magic as a pair. However, let’s trace back our thoughts to square one for a moment; a Berserk Live Action can easily top the list of unrealistic possibilities, at least for now!
