Amazon Studios has Secured the Rights to Warhammer 40,000

Amazon Studios has officially acquired the rights to the Warhammer 40,000 universe, spanning series, film, and more. The speculation surrounding Henry Cavill’s involvement in a Warhammer 40,000 series has now been confirmed with an official announcement

In the announcement, Henry Cavill expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I have loved Warhammer since I was a boy, making this moment truly special for me.”

The opportunity to shepherd this cinematic universe from its inception is quite the honour and the responsibility. I couldn’t be more grateful for all the hard work put in by Vertigo, Amazon and Games Workshop to make this happen. One step closer to making a nigh-on lifelong dream come true.”

Genuinely can’t get enough of the lore they have built over the decades. They have been some of my most enthused reads! If you were in denial about me being a geek before, you can’t hide from it now.

With Cavill’s evident passion for the franchise, his role as the key figure in the Warhammer universe seems fitting.

Henry Cavill is known to be a big fan of The Witcher game series and the book series and said that he wanted to be faithful to the source material. Many reports also claimed that the British actor left the popular show due to the writers disrespecting the source material for The Witcher

While nothing is confirmed as of now, the showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has shared that she and Cavill had different approaches for the future of the series.

This passion for the series even influenced the way he portrayed the character of Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix adaptation. He went as far as to adopt a distinct accent to further establish the character of Geralt of Rivia and regularly insisted that the show should stay true to the source material.

And now Cavill himself is steering the wheel to not let the writers butcher the lore.
