James Bond is an iconic character that continued to engage fans with his courteous demeanor, excellent brainstorming, enthralling fighting skills, and not to forget, an iconic catchphrase that instantly reminds us of the strong individual he is known as. Though several actors continued his legacy in their unique style, Daniel Craig’s portrayal of 007 in No Time To Die was the last when fans enjoyed the adventure of the famous agent.

The 40-year-old actor, Henry Cavill is among the top contenders for the next James Bond role. According to William Hill, The Witcher star is in the second spot with odds of 5-2 however, his position is reportedly in much trouble. English actor, Paapa Essiedu is gaining much fans’ attention and has suddenly popped up on the third spot at 3-1 alongside James Norton to replace Daniel Craig as the 007.

On his appearance at the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he shared,

“They told me I was close. They told me it was ultimately down to, and this is what I’ve been told, it was just down to me and Daniel [Craig], and I was the younger option. They obviously went with Daniel and I think it was an amazing choice to go with Daniel.”

Though the actor was 23 years old at the time when he auditioned for the spy role, he had no qualms over not getting it. In an interview with Men’s Health, he shared that it was a “great, fun role to play” while auditioning for 007.

He even acknowledged Craig’s potential of doing “an incredible job of being Bond.” Though he was unable to grab the role at the time, he still has another option as the new James Bond is yet to be declared.
