One of the biggest complaints expected by showrunners and directors when they attempt to adapt a piece of literature into a TV series is the very much devoted fanbase that comes running with their pitchforks if the source material isn’t closely followed. Henry Cavill is one such person from the crowd who is a devout believer in sticking to the source material.

But as recent reports tell us, he’s very much going to hold it against you if the source material isn’t followed.

Henry Cavill Reportedly Had A Beef With The Witcher‘s Story Writers

The success of the Netflix original adaptation of Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher novel series is quite evident. While critics may have painted a skewed picture of how good the show is, the audience viewership numbers speak for themselves- the first season was ranked second among the most-viewed series in the U.S. market.

But one qualm that has been highlighted over and over by devoted fans of the fantasy media franchise is the tendency of the series’ writers to stray away from the source material. The fans aren’t alone in their criticism of this issue, even the lead actor Henry Cavill was in on it!

According to a report by Recap Focus on their YouTube channel, Cavill pretty much had a fallout with The Witcher‘s story writers over diverging opinions on whether or not to follow the source material of which the Argylle star was a staunch advocate of sticking to the original story by Sapkowski.

To make things even worse, a former show writer for The Witcher TV series, Beau de Mayo, recently claimed that other show writers for the series were in full agreement with each other over their shared dislike of the source material.

So it’s no surprise that Henry Cavill wanted to get out of this mess in general since his, and the fans’ wishes, were not met at all.
