Wouldn't it be just insane if Superman ended up as a Wolverine variant in Deadpool 3?

Hugh Jackman’s grand comeback as the iconic Wolverine meant he’d have to endure months of grueling workouts and a stringent routine to stay in shape. Who knew adamantium-clawed mutants needed a modest diet of steamed asparagus and fish to keep all that muscle in check?

Well, turns out, Henry Cavill has already been there, done that (hello there Pitbull) over a decade ago when he was gearing up to save Metropolis as the buffed-up Kryptonian hero.

Henry Cavill Would’ve Given Tough Competition to Hugh Jackman

In case you’re Patrick and have been living under a rock, Hugh Jackman reprises his legendary role as Wolverine in the Deadpool threequel, and one of the most major aspects of his comeback involved maintaining his superhero-like build. How else would the big bad mutant put down adversaries and fight the ‘Ryan Reynolds bromance’ allegations?

But – and as burly as Jackman, 55, is – Henry Cavill‘s Superman regime would’ve certainly given the Aussie star a run for his money. Let’s not forget how absolutely shredded the Man of Steel star got for his DC outing in 2013.

For the Zack Snyder-helmed tentpole, Cavill, 41, first put on weight, cramming in 5000 calories a day for weeks “to grow bigger.” Then came the stage of shedding fat which would ultimately chisel his muscular frame to perfection, followed by workout plans targeted to specific body parts (via IGN).

And the result? A swole, beefy Clark Kent that even James Howlett himself would bow down to. Speaking of which, the Justice League star has also sparked rumors about a thrilling cameo in Shawn Levy’s Deadpool 3 as none other than the indefatigable Wolverine himself. Or, as a Wolverine variant, to be more precise.

Henry Cavill Reportedly Appears in Deadpool & Wolverine

Ever since he passed down the mantle of the White Wolf to Liam Hemsworth and bid farewell to the Superman moniker, Cavill has been rumored to be in cahoots with Marvel.

While fans and comic book nerds have handpicked a montage of roles that the Argylle star could take up should he enter the realm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the latest scuttlebutt claims that he’s slated to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine beside the disfigured merc and no-nonsense mutant.

In one a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the English actor had expressed his interest in becoming a part of the MCU, albeit he wouldn’t want to take up a character that’s already being played.

I’m never going to say a Marvel character that is already being played by someone else because everyone’s doing such an amazing job,” he said. But Cavill did have his eye on Brian Braddock’s Captain Britain, a role which he could envisage putting a modern spin on. But of course, only time will tell.

Deadpool & Wolverine is out in theatres.
