The film which also co-stars Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Dua Lipa, is said to be a very James Bond-esque thriller in which Cavill plays a suave secret agent. Cavill for his part, was particular that Argylle must fulfill one condition to be able to move on to the next film.

Vaugh though, has already envisioned a plan to make Argylle a franchise of sorts in the future with his desire to expand the film into two sequels. His lead actor Henry Cavill who was excited to take on this interesting character, spoke to Total Film about the experience. The Witcher star expressed his thoughts on certain conditions that would justify a second and third film.

“As long as the story is good, and the character has a place to go, and it fits in with everything else that I’m trying to build and do, then great.”

Cavill went on to add that his pleasant working relationship with Matthew Vaughn would definitely work in their favor when the time came to create a sequel. With the release of Argylle around the corner, time will tell if the British star’s charisma makes the film laugh all the way to the box office.

Henry Cavill’s Alternative Action Sequence In Argylle Will Get Heads Turning

The trailer of Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle has dropped online and has only heightened the intrigue factor with its smart choice of keeping the main narrative under wraps. One of the sequences that briefly featured in the trailer though, was an interesting action sequence involving Cavill, Sam Rockwell, and Bryce Dallas Howard on a moving train.

Sam Rockwell and Henry Cavill have a memorable train action sequence in Argylle

The British actor’s titular protagonist who is actually a fictional hero in Howard’s character’s novel, is continuously seen by the author as her savior from spies in place of her actual protector, the geeky Sam Rockwell. This required both Cavill and Rockwell to mimic each other’s moves to precision as each of these segments had to be shot in exactly the same manner and edited to create the scene.

The DC alum and the Jojo Rabbit star spent a lot of time and effort to mirror each other’s movements to perfection. Cavill in an interview with Entertainment Weekly while promoting Argylle, revealed how he and Rockwell worked through these challenges and fed off each other’s strengths to produce a satisfying end product.

“Sam and I were watching each other and just trying to make sure that we had a similarity of movements. Certain movements worked better for him, so I would mimic those, and then different movements in other places worked better for me, so he would copy those. Fight scenes are tricky and complex, especially in a cramped space like that with lots of hard edges.”

Cavill was also grateful to be able to do an arduous fight scene with a competent co-star like Rockwell, instead of going through the rigors of the scene all alone.

Argylle is set to release in theaters worldwide on 2nd February 2024.
