Dua Lipa is Venturing into Hollywood

Finding steady success in her musical career, the English singer Dua Lipa made her way into Hollywood. Appearing on the silver screen with her brief cameo in Greta Gerwig’s summer blockbuster Barbie, alongside Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, Lipa hit the Barbieland.

Pop star-turned-mermaid Barbie offered her fans an adorable sight of her onscreen presence with her brief cameo in the movie. Further, Dua Lipa made headlines for her major role alongside the Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill. According to reports, Lipa will soon hit the theatres with her spy thriller Argylle

Although Barbie offered her a brief cameo, it was deemed her Hollywood debut until Argylle director Matthew Vaughn broke the myth. According to Vaughn, Barbie might have featured Dua Lipa’s first onscreen appearance, but technically, Argylle still holds the record for her Hollywood debut.

Argylle Holds a Dua Lipa Record Unlike Barbie 

Speaking with Den of Geek, Argylle director Matthew Vaughn stated the theory that suggests that Dua Lipa made her Hollywood debut with the spy thriller. According to the director, although Barbie was quick to complete the project and hit the theatres, featuring Lipa onscreen, she was actually hired first for Argylle, which makes Henry Cavill’s movie her first film.

When asked if Argylle is “Dua Lipa’s first major film role”, Matthew Vaughn replied, “this was her first film role as well.” Clarifying any doubt that people had about their favorite rising actor and pop star’s acting debut, Vaughn mentioned that Argylle holds the record for Lipa’s debut that Barbie never could.

We did it before Barbie. Just to be clear…she is the nemesis of Henry Cavill, and I needed someone that you would immediately recognize but also be like, Oh, that’s not what I was expecting.”

Stating that they hired Dua Lipa before Barbie, Matthew Vaughn mentioned that Greta Gerwig‘s movie isn’t the singer’s debut film. Apparently, Henry Cavill’s Argylle is Lipa’s debut, as well as her first major Hollywood role. “I knew she would explode off the screen; she was a delight to work with as well.” the director shared. 

Praising the singer for her brilliant screen presence and natural acting skills, Matthew Vaughn proceeded with the interview.
